Our name, “Mekonda na Mahamba”, means the kinship and reciprocal relationships with
the land, air, water, and all beings, both in the local community and globally. The meaning also
incorporates the concepts of balance of life, such as that of feminine and masculine
energy, and is similar to the philosophy of the yin and the yang.
Learn more about us and take action to support our community. The “Mekonda na
Mahamba Earth-Keepers Community”, is a non-profit program, established by Godi Godar in his
ancestral land in the Bateke tribal community (near the Tshumbiri village) in the Democratic Republic
of Congo. We currently have a team of Earth-Keepers serving on many Initiatives of our work.
As “Earth-Keepers”, we endeavor to protect nature rights and work in harmonious,
reciprocal relationship with nature to create and foster healthy ecosystems where all beings
can thrive now and in future generations. We work to tend the earth as “keepers”, not
“takers” as many do with little to no regard of the protection of biodiversity and the community.
